Noh Shi Martial Arts of Brodheadsville Pa. recently participated at the 3rd annual Grand Champions International Karate Cup in Queens, New York. The event was open to practitioners of traditional Japanese and Okinawan karate and had over 400 participants. There were competitors representing several states in the U.S. as well as other countries like Egypt and Ecuador.
Team Noh Shi consisted of 31 members ranging from 5yr. old Kinder karate kids to adults.
Under the direction of Head Instructor Sensei Janet Troche Molerio, Sensei William Barcene and Sensei Kurt Fretz, Team Noh Shi brought home 48 trophies. The team took several 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winnings in all divisions which included team kata (forms) individual kata and individual kumite (sparring). Sensei Molerio and Team Noh Shi were also presented with a special award for their excellence and dedication to the arts.
Sensei Molerio states “Noh Shi’s success is attributed not only to the hard work and dedication of the students, but also to the great support and dedication of their families. They are the BEST!!”
