Habitat For Humanity

Coldwell Banker Phyllis Rubin Real Estate commits to being a Coldwell Banker Home Sponsor of Habitat for Humanity in 2008.

Habitat for Humanity, the official non-profit alliance of Coldwell Banker Real Estate Corporation, works to build decent, affordable housing. Habitat houses are sold to those in need at no profit, and with no interest charged. Through this process, dreams are built and lives are transformed.

Habitat chooses homeowners based on their level of need, their willingness to become partners in the program and their ability to repay the no interest loan. Neither race nor religion is a factor in choosing the families who receive Habitat houses, or in working with local volunteers.

Habitat homeowners are given a hand-up, not a hand-out, through their new homeownership opportunity. Future homeowners must contribute several hundred hours of "sweat equity" labor to their own home. The new homeowners make monthly payments on a twenty-year, no-interest mortgage to Habitat. That money is then used to help build more houses, which is why Habitat is so successful.

Since its corporate alliance with Habitat in 1993, Coldwell Banker Affiliates have contributed millions of dollars and volunteered thousands of hours to further the Habitat mission. Additionally, Coldwell Banker Real Estate Corporation has sponsored Habitat home-builds in connection with the annual International Business Conferences, leaving a positive, lasting impression on the host communities long after the conferences are done.

Coldwell Banker Real Estate Corporation and Coldwell Banker Affiliates also participated in the 100 Homes for Habitat campaign, by sponsoring one or more full homes in communities across the United States and Canada. The 100 Homes for Habitat campaign concluded in December 2006. The campaign raised more than $6.2 million dollars for local Habitat for Humanity affiliates and built over 130 homes.

An ongoing campaign to support Habitat for Humanity kicked off in 2007, called Coldwell Banker Homes for Habitat. This program continues to financially support the building of homes by participating Coldwell Banker companies and Coldwell Banker Real Estate Corporation.
